What we are, and what we are not.

Last updated 31 July 2026

We would rather you know exactly how we are licensed, how we are paid, and where our role ends, before you rely on anything here.

Who we are

US Preservation Partners is a licensed United States life-insurance producer. We are licensed to place life insurance in all fifty US states and the District of Columbia. Our work is to measure a family’s US estate-tax exposure in plain language, place the life insurance that funds it, and coordinate the independent specialists who complete the plan. Our licensing details, including state license numbers, are available on request.

Educational information, not advice

Everything on this site, including the exposure estimator and any report it produces, is general educational information for families with potential US estate-tax exposure. It is not legal, tax, accounting, or investment advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from your own licensed professionals about your specific situation.

Reading this site, using the estimator, or contacting us does not create an attorney, accountant, tax-advisor, or fiduciary relationship. Do not act, or decline to act, on the basis of anything here without confirming it with advisors who know your full circumstances.

Not an offer or solicitation

Nothing on this site is an offer or solicitation to buy or sell any insurance product or security, or to provide any service, in any jurisdiction where we are not authorized to do so. Life insurance is offered only after a proper application, a suitability review, and underwriting, and it is governed by the terms of the policy actually issued. Availability, pricing, and features depend on the carrier, the product, your country of residence, your age and health, and underwriting, and they can change.

The estimator is an estimate

The exposure estimator applies a single, deliberately conservative rule: it takes the top 40% US estate-tax rate against the US-situated assets you enter above the $60,000 nonresident exemption. It is an illustration to show you the shape of the problem, not a quote, an opinion, or a promise.

It does not model, among other things:

  • The graduated rate schedule, so the true tax is usually lower than the figure shown.
  • Relief under any US estate or gift-tax treaty, which can change the result substantially.
  • US state-level estate or inheritance taxes.
  • Prior taxable gifts, marital or QDOT planning, or debts against US property.
  • Assets outside the United States, and facts we have not asked you for.

Your real figure depends on facts confirmed by your own advisors. We show the same number to someone who, after proper analysis, needs no insurance at all.

How we are paid

When we place a life-insurance policy, we are compensated by commissions paid by the insurance carrier under its standard schedules. This compensation comes from the carrier, not as a separate charge added to your premium. Any independent attorneys, accountants, or trustees we introduce are engaged and paid by you directly, under their own agreements, and we do not take a share of their fees.

Commission-based compensation creates a potential conflict of interest, because we are paid when a policy is placed. We manage it in three ways: we are carrier-neutral and place across a panel of major US insurers rather than for any one company; we match the product to the plan rather than the plan to a product; and when the analysis says you do not need insurance, we tell you so. If you would like to understand how we are compensated on a particular recommendation, ask, and we will explain it.

Independent and carrier-neutral

We are not owned by, and not tied to, any single insurer. We place across a panel of major US carriers, in part because no one carrier can write every country or every case. That independence lets us choose the product that fits your plan, and it is also a matter of coverage rather than preference.

The professionals we coordinate

The legal and tax structuring around a plan, such as trusts, ownership, and filings, is performed by independent, licensed third parties, not by US Preservation Partners. We coordinate them, but we do not supervise or take responsibility for their advice, and you engage them under their own terms. We are a life-insurance producer; we do not practice law, we do not prepare tax returns, and we do not sell securities or provide investment advice.

Guarantees and results

Any guarantees associated with a life-insurance policy are the obligations of, and depend on the continued claims-paying ability of, the issuing insurance company. Policy values and benefits are not guaranteed by US Preservation Partners. Nothing on this site guarantees that a policy will be issued, that it will be issued at a particular price, or that any specific outcome will be achieved. Past examples and illustrations are not a prediction of your result.

Where we can act

We act only where we are licensed and authorized, and some products cannot be written for residents of certain countries. Presenting information on this site is not a representation that we are able to serve you in your particular location. We will tell you plainly if we are not able to help.
